I majored in education at San Jose State University in California. I became a bilingual elementary school teacher (English and Spanish) and taught in both the Santa Rita Union School District in Salinas, California and the Pajaro Valley Unified School district in Watsonville California. I taught English in Kawakami, Japan. I am currently learning Korean.

Because of the financial problems the Pajaro Unified School District was having in 2008, they cut most of the reading specialist positions, so I lost my dream job. Rather than going back to a regular classroom, I decided to start a tutoring business and I have been tutoring ever since. I know that a child who is behind doesn’t have to stay behind. Many of my students became the best students in the class. One got an award for being the most improved student in the school.

I tutored in the Watsonville area for over fourteen years. In June of 2022 I moved to Maryland to be closer to my son and his family.
